It is essential to learn about those who came before us.  By understanding their lives, sacrifices, and the decisions they made, we can better appreciate where we are today.

According to a story by Bruce Feiler published in the New York Times in March 2013, Dr. Marshall Duke conducted a study and concluded, "the more children knew about their family’s history, the stronger their sense of control over their lives, the higher their self-esteem and the more successfully they believed their families functioned."
